2024 Lieu Dit 'Blanc de Mer'

2024 is the very first vintage of this savvy blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chenin Blanc from several well-known Santa Barbara vineyards. Aromatically super bright lemon, hints of flowers, and pithy citrus aromas virtually pop when you pop the cork. On the palate there is definitely more of a round texture than the lean and linear Loire Valley whites that are the inspiration for the Lieu Dit brand, so there is a bit of California juiciness in the mix, but the wine is all the more charming for it. As the label instructs, a pile of Grassy Bar oysters would be an ideal pairing, but the wine is crafted for versatility and would do equally well with roast chicken, fresh goat's cheese, or even takeout from your favorite Thai place.
